Phase III: Sucre, Bolivia
Mission:
1) Get from Potosi to Sucre...transport strike shut the country down!
2) Get The Cowboy to join the convoy!
3) Dinosaur Tracks
4) A trek/activity of some sort!
So...due to a transport strike in Bolivia, which spiralled outta control and literally shut the country down, we caught cabs from Potosi to Sucre and as there was no way in hell that Cathy and I were willing to part ways with The Cowboy (we had only just been reunited goddamit!), we managed to buy his passage on board the trip to Sucre!! Not much sweet talking was actually needed as The Cowboy had managed to infiltrate the group and win everyone over the previous night at dinner. How does he manage it?!
The journey was pretty short, always time enough to have a kip though....and a pit stop at a massive bridge which resembled Tower Bridge, (ahh London, how I miss you so!) where we climbed up to one of the towers and heckled The Cowboy as he battled with his crippling vertigo. Im a good friend, me!
Once at Sucre, the three of us decided on a day of horseriding, trekking and an all-you-can-eat BBQ...nice!! But first things first....massages!! Now, Im aware that I hadnt actually done any physical activity of any sort at that point, and life is certainly not on the stressful side at the mo...but to be frank...does one really need a reason to have a massage? I think not...hence the reason I had two...nice!
The horseriding/trek combo was pretty cool. Was hoping to get a bit of galloping going on...yes, I have recently become an expert horseman...but alas, to no avail. Wasnt able to, as we were heading through some mountainous country (im not THAT much of an expert) and so it was a fairly dull ride but I was kept suitably entertained by Cathy and The Cowboy. The Cowboy had a close call initially as his horse decided it didnt want to walk up the road, but rather wanted to pelt up the side of a mountain. Wasnt feeling that kind of behaviour so opted to dismount and walk my little horsey through the danger zone!
Dinosaur Tracks: Yeah, we didnt actually make it to the "tracks". The others had gone along in he morning and said that it wasnt overly impressive, plus I saw some of their photos, so pretty much had that covered as far as Im concerned!!
The Group: We were parting ways with a couple of members of the group. The Kiwi Family, Dennis and Mel were all leaving the tour (they opted to only go as far as Bolivia.) Was absolutely gutted that dennis and Mel were leaving...they were cracking fun! Warren was due to head off home, but opted to pull a Priya stunt and rejoin the tour for the final couple of weeks.
Worse than that...we were due to part ways with The Cowboy once again. He was headed to do the Salt Flats and had already done Brasil, so no amount of whining and poofacing could get him to carry on with us!
Sucre done....7 of us left!!
